“TAMAM” is a large educational project based on educational development programs, in order to support the Arabic schools, through the development of a model for a professional network among Arabic schools, and to work to be devoted to the development of education in the largest possible number of Arab countries.

“Partners for the Arabic Book” is an Arabic initiative to advance the causes of the Arabic Book, launched at the end of the conference of “the writing and publishing movement: Publish a book... Develop a nation”, organized by the Arab Thought Foundation, in cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, within the framework of the celebration of Beirut World Book Capital, in the first and second week of October 2009.

Under the auspices of Prince Bandar bin Khalid Al Faisal, the Project of Digital Education in Arab Countries was launched after concluding an agreement between the Arab Thought Foundation and International Intel Corporation on 01/12/2007, in order to spread the digital education in the Arab countries the most in need, and to make the information and the communication technology as essential tools in education field.

The Pioneers Award was given to those who had a head start in his thought or his exercise, and who left an impact or formed a school in the field of his specialization. The Innovators Award was given to those who produced a creative work in the different fields of science, knowledge and culture. The Talented Award was granted to those who have exceptional abilities in academic, intellectual, technical, professional and leadership fields of young people and youth in general education and higher education.

Summary

The United Nations has designated 2011 as International Year of Volunteers + 10. The Arab Thought Foundation has adopted this Initiative as a framework to capitalize on IYV+10, as well as to motivate individuals, organizations, service institutions, schools, universities, governmental agencies, and socially responsible businesses throughout the Arab World to work together in order to strengthen and improve volunteering in the region.
 

Basic Objectives of this Initiative

1)    Bring together key people in volunteerism in the Arab World to share knowledge, experiences, and needs regarding volunteering in the region.
2)    Provide basic training, as well as orientation to other training opportunities available, with the goal of expanding and improving the core of specialists in volunteerism in the Arab World, drawing on Arab cultural traditions and experiences, as well as expertise from within the region and worldwide.
3)    Develop effective service programs for elementary, intermediate, and secondary schools, technical schools, and universities that foster a culture of volunteering.
4)    Provide funding opportunities for those who would develop major sustainable volunteer development projects in their countries in 2011.
5)    Encourage setting positive national policies for volunteers and volunteerism in the region, through providing information (samples and support).
6)    Set mechanisms for networking, resources development, information exchange, support and joint cooperation between those who work on enhancing volunteerism in the region, for periods of time exceeding the year 2011.
 

ATF Supported Components:

1) Research


The collection and evaluation of previous research and the development and implementation of new research on volunteerism across the region.


2) Learning to CARE Institute


A training workshop for educational specialists, to develop “Learning to CARE” teams in different Arab countries to train schools in how to develop effective school service programs.


3) Online Seminars


A series of online seminars to allow interactive networking and support throughout the Initiative period.


4) Collection of Resources


The collection of available resources (books, videos, governmental documents) to support volunteerism in the region.


5) Translation/Adaptation of Resources


The translation into Arabic and cultural adaptation of selected resources.

6) New Resources


The development of new culturally authentic resources including children’s book, videos, and other materials in Arabic language to help support a culture of volunteering in the region.


7) Website and Clearinghouse


The development of an online clearinghouse in Arabic to make resources easily available online.

Arabi 21

“Arabi 21” is an integrated initiative to develop the Arabic language, in line with its following axes: Research, Trends / reading and literacy, professional development for teachers, curriculum, education, calendar, educational materials, support and sustain. One of the main activities of the project is to launch a huge open website, providing educational materials, research, articles and video clips of the best practices for teaching the Arabic language from the kindergarten stage.

The translation of the series of books of "State of the World" from French into Arabic language is the first stage within the project of "One Civilization," which was launched by the Arab Thought Foundation a few years ago, for the translation of books published in the world and dealing with topics and issues of developmental thinking.
This unique series of books relate the conditions of the world through the most recent studies and statistics, and discuss the current developments at various levels of social, cultural, educational, economic, political, commercial, and others fields.

In support of the openness to all cultures of the world and the spread of Arabic culture abroad, our Foundation has launched the translation project from the Chinese language, which is the second phase of the translation project "One Civilization", where His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al Faisal, President of the Arab Thought Foundation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Foundation and the Vice Chairman of the International Chinese Publishing Group Mr. Guo Xiao Yong, on the tenth of December 2009.
